Who would not want to find this beauty underneath their Christmas tree? While some might find the presentation a bit tacky, I must admit I love the candy-wrapped pink bottle and would be proud to have it on my dressing table. Viktor and Rolf have a reputation for luxury and exclusivity in the world of designer perfume and even though I would not be spraying this one every day – still, I would love to have it.
The perfume opens with a blast of sweetened citruses, a slight hint of peach and the ever present caramel. It’s absolutely delicious. White florals follow heed, especially the orange blossom that makes the whole composition, how shall I say, marmalade-y? Bonbon smells like marmalade on toast accompanied with a cup of caramel latte… As it fades, sandalwood (one of my favourite notes) and amber slowly start taking over, without pushing aside the caramel, which is the real star of this fragrance.
Bonbon is less cloying than its sister Flowerbomb and has all the potential of pleasing large audiences. If you like Juicy Couture, try this. I find Bonbon just as feisty and charming as Viva la Juicy Gold couture, but slightly more mature… and definitely in a more presentable bottle!
The only gripe I have with this fragrance is the longevity as it only lasts for about 2-3 hours on my skin! For the price V&R are charging for this I am really not sure if one should bite the bullet, especially since there are similar, more affordable oprions (the aforementioned Viva La Juicy perfumes are available for around 40 euros per 100 ml, for example). But then, this is my skin. The users of Fragrantica rates this mostly as “long lasting” so go figure… better try it our for yourself, as always!
